CEMI, Cabinet d'Expertises Maritimes International (International Marine Survey firm), is a Limited Company founded in 1995 after the purchase of the firm SEMI, Société d'Expertise Maritime et Industrielle (Marine and Industrial Survey company), the latter having been created in 1953.
It is the oldest and most stable among the firms of marine surveys in Dakar .

Its manager, Mr Cheikh Oumar THIAM, besides being the registered surveyor in Dakar for several international organizations of classification: the W K Webster Register , Hellenic Register of Shipping , Polish Register , DNV , GL , VHT (German insurance); is also an approved marine surveyor (hull, machinery& cargo) and member of the Senegalese national surveying board. CEMI is the surveyor of most of the local P&I correspondants, local shipping agencies, ship owners, charterers , brokers, insurance co. Etc…
CEMI is W K WEBSTER agent and surveyor in Senegal and Mali.
As a damage commission agent, CEMI represents international insurances (German, Swiss...) in Dakar . For them it carries out technical surveys and the monitoring of loading and unloading of cargos of cereals and petroleum products.
For all these reasons, CEMI has an international technical credibility and provides with all the representatives of these organizations throughout the world, technical advice activities on all that concerns the ships, the machinery, their cargos,…
